The Talent Program, a subsidiary of Blache, held a special event on Friday, May 10th, 2024, to provide laptops to students at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in need of essential technology for their education. The non-profit organization, dedicated to supporting talented youth from various backgrounds, partnered with Tenable, a cybersecurity company based in Columbia, Maryland, USA. Thanks to Tenable’s generous sponsorship and contribution, the ALEAP initiative at FUTA was made possible.
The event saw a gathering of dozens of excited students and teachers, as representatives from the Blache Talent Program, including CEO George Ehizojie Omosun, distributed laptops. These devices are aimed not only at equipping students with essential tools for academic work but also at preparing them for future success, fostering the discovery and nurturing of their potential in the tech industry.
The Blache Talent Program is committed to growing the tech capacity in Africa through a three-dimensional approach: equipping young Africans with training tools and resources, providing opportunities for remote work, and building communities that foster the development of timely solutions.
A parent of one of the recipients, Ebinowen Omotola Johnson, expressed deep gratitude: “I sincerely appreciate you, Mr. George Blache. Thanks for making the impossible possible, thanks for spreading love and kindness. Thanks for blessing my son with this beautiful laptop. May God almighty replenish you, may God answer all your silent prayers, and give you long life to enjoy your labour of love. We are so grateful.”
Recipient Oyewale Bright shared his appreciation: “Thanks for your kind gesture and gift. This is a great motivation for me and my friends, as this will encourage us to put more effort into our studies. Thank you immensely.”
Muta Mashack, Global Diversity and Inclusion Lead at Tenable, emphasized the significance of the initiative: “When we learned about the A-LEAP Program and its mission to provide children in Nigeria access to laptops, it resonated strongly with our strategic objectives. By supporting this cause, we aim to bridge the tech divide in underrepresented communities and empower all children to thrive in technology. Education and access to resources are fundamental in cultivating future innovators and leaders. We are proud to contribute to such a meaningful initiative. Thank you to our organizers for championing this cause and to everyone involved in making this program a reality. We are excited about the impact it will have and the work we are able to do.”
The A Laptop for Every African Person (A-LEAP) initiative under Blache’s The Talent Program, aims to provide laptops to talented and ambitious African individuals who lack access to the necessary tools and resources needed to develop their tech skills. By providing laptops to those in need, Blache hopes to empower African individuals to pursue their dreams and achieve their potential in the tech industry.
”In addition to the laptops, students will receive training on how to effectively utilize the devices for schoolwork. The Blache Talent Program hopes this comprehensive approach will empower students and set them up for long-term success in our increasingly digital society’ said Dorathy Simeon, Talent Program Manager, Blache.
Blache, an African tech company, is a group of engineers and professionals who are dedicated to solving some of Africa’s most pressing problems using technology. The Talent Program continues to welcome contributions to further its mission of equipping talented youth through education, mentorship, and access to essential resources.
