"You enlightened me about tech. Thank you for the encouragement."

— Orimolade Rotimi

These simple words from Orimolade Rotimi capture the essence of what happens when technology meets opportunity. It's not just about the device—it's about the doors that suddenly swing open, the confidence that blooms, and the futures that are reimagined.

When Technology Becomes Personal

In a world increasingly divided between the digitally empowered and those left behind, students like Orimolade represent thousands across Nigeria who have been waiting—not for charity, but for a chance. A chance that finally arrived through the A Laptop for Every African Person (ALEAP) program.

For these students, a laptop isn't a luxury; it's the difference between being observers of the digital revolution and becoming its architects.

From One Story to Many: The ALEAP Journey

What began in 2024 as a vision to bridge the digital divide has evolved into a movement that's changing lives one laptop at a time. In 2025, ALEAP expanded its reach to 40 students across six government schools in FCT Abuja and Lagos State, Nigeria.

Each recipient has a story. Each laptop opens a chapter. And when International Women's Day arrived, we made sure that 10 of those chapters began with girls from Northern Nigeria—a region where young women often face the steepest climb toward tech inclusion.

Real Students. Real Shifts.

Students weren’t chosen randomly. They earned their spot through an essay competition, sharing their vision on how a laptop would change their education and careers. Their answers? Bold, imaginative, deeply personal.

What we saw was more than excitement. We saw ownership.

Watch a clip on how we changed the life of this recipient.

Community Matters: The Power of Showing Up

Behind every student stands a network of support. Tenable, our dedicated sponsor, provided not just financial backing but a presence that said: "We believe in you." With their partnership, students received laptops alongside branded notepads, access to remote work-readiness platforms, and something perhaps even more valuable—mentorship from the Tenable team.

The ceremonies were attended by teachers who had long advocated for these resources, by educationboard officials who recognized the program's significance, and by community members who understood that when one child advances, the entire community moves forward.

The Ripple Effect

ALEAP has transcended its initial purpose. It's no longer just about distributing laptops—it's about nurturing a generation of tech-empowered youth who will, in turn, lift others up. We're now building an alumni network, developing a mentorship hub, and strategizing expansion with special focus on girls in tech.

Our vision remains clear and our commitment unwavering: no African student should be left behind simply because of what they don't have access to. Through ALEAP, we're not just touching lives—we're transforming futures.

And as Orimolade reminded us, this enlightenment, this encouragement, this belief in potential—it matters. It changes everything.
